Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. Buss was born in California and grew up as part of a rich family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon, and then later owned the Lakers. Her feelings of abandonment were heightened when her parents separated in 1972. At the age of 19, she began working in the family business. Later she founded the Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before becoming Vice President for the Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013 and his controlling ownership of the Lakers was inherited by Buss and her five siblings by a trust of the family with each sibling having the same vote. In 2013, she took charge of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is the owner of Women of Wrestling in Los Angeles the organization which encourages professional wrestling.
