In the year she turned fifteen, she landed her first part on screen, in Lucas. Ryder suffered bullying in high school. Ryder believed that if she became an actor her behaviour could be reduced. But, unfortunately, that didn't occur. But she pushed on with her goals. It was 1988 when Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that she got her big break. Ryder was able to continue playing characters that made a splash in a variety of films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
