Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz who was who was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for the town she grew up in. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. The actress is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County to California, when she was just 7 years old. There, they didn't have electricity. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the lack of television. When she turned twelve, Ryder joined the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. In the year she turned fifteen, she landed her first part on screen, in Lucas. Ryder suffered bullying in high school. Ryder believed that if she became an actor her behaviour could be reduced. But, unfortunately, that didn't occur. But she pushed on with her goals. It was 1988 when Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that she got her big break. Ryder was able to continue playing characters that made a splash in a variety of films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
