John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions by his popular-folk hits and many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born singer-songwriter who fell in adore with Colorado. Denver's iconic anthems for Colorado have inspired many people to move to the state. G. Danoff composed the tune in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single when he first heard it. The singer recorded the song just a few days later after performing it to the awe-inspiring crowd on the streets of Washington D.C.
